Who We Are

RACKETTE Patentanwälte PartG mbB, based in Freiburg, Germany (sometimes referred to as the "capital of the Black Forest"), was established as a partnership in 1998 by Karl Rackette and Joachim Rüttgers, following the establishment of Mr. Rackette's sole practice in 1982.


Karl Rackette and Joachim Rüttgers are registered German patent attorneys and thus entitled to represent our clients in patent, utility model, trademark and design matters before the German Patent and Trademark Office (GPTO) , the German Federal Patent Court (Bundespatentgericht, BPatG) and in a specific proceedings before the Federal Court of Justice (Bundesgerichtshof, BGH) . As authorized representatives before the European Patent Office (EPO), we also conduct for you all proceedings relating to European patent applications and patents. Our patent attorneys also file and represent international patent, trademark and design applications with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and European Union trademarks and designs with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). We are also authorized to represent in proceedings before the Unified Patent Court (UPC). In summary, we can offer you the full range of patent attorney advice and representation.

Since the firm's inception, we have been involved in thousands of intellectual property (IP) cases, very often resulting in individual IP rights for our clients. We have conducted corresponding procedures at home and abroad, advised on very sensitive infringement issues and been involved in infringement proceedings before courts in Germany and abroad. We have also provided numerous legal consultations on a wide range of IP issues. As a result of our decades of intensive practice as patent attorneys, we have gained extensive experience in many aspects of intellectual property, and we believe that we are the right people to help you with your concerns and represent your interests.

 

We are located in the city center of Freiburg, Germany, very close to the famous cathedral and easily accessible by car or public transport.
